Cost Optimization

Each decision made concerning the manufacturing and delivery of parts has a direct impact on cost. Jumanji is continuously working with customers to optimize the costs and economics of global manufacturing. We will design a production and delivery program that addresses your cost savings and management requirements.

Production Cost

Production costs in China will vary based on the material availability, part complexity and the number of production runs scheduled. Most of the parts produced by Jumanji have utilized material equivalents (i.e., chemically equivalent to USTM standards). If a material equivalent is not available domestically in China, it can be purchased by Jumanji and imported, but this entails increased costs associated with procurement, shipping and import taxes (VAT).

It is difficult to break small volume orders into multiple production runs in China. As a result, a single production run is generally required for small quantity EAUs. Additionally, some processes have minimum volume requirements that limit the ability to spread production (i.e., extrusion, casting, etc.). These constraints generally lead to fewer, larger production runs in China.

Transportation Cost

While larger production runs entail higher initial inventory levels, savings associated with aggregate shipping often offsets this cost. Depending on the parts, shipping costs can range from 2%-4% for small items, to 10%-20% for heavy or bulky items. Most items are shipped in 20' or 40' containers via ocean freight (taking 28 to 32 days), however airfreight is available for rush deliveries (3 to 5 days). While airfreight is an option, it generally adds significant costs and is only viable for smaller parts.

Fulfillment Cost

Customers have several options relative to inventory and fulfillment. Most customers take shipment on parts as they arrive in the location. However, some customers have chosen to utilize Jumanji's warehouse and fulfillment services. We can store parts in our facility and ship per your demand or pull schedule. While there are costs associated with this service, some customers have manufacturing and inventory requirements that necessitate it.
